About Brent Emery

Greetings in the name of Yeshua our Messiah! My name is Brent Emery and I live in Tacoma, Washington. I am a Torah pursuant believer in Yeshua the Messiah. For the last ten years I have been teaching in Messianic Communities of the Pacific Northwest. I was raised in the home of a Baptist pastor and my formative years were spent in Baptist circles. From 1984-1987 I attended a small Baptist college in the Midwest (graduated in 1987-B.S in Bible). While in college a man named Ben Alpert would hold classes during the summer and winter short sessions. I took every class he offered and soon I found myself with an identity crisis. As I listened to Ben Alpert (a Messianic Jewish believer) I was forced to decide whether Yeshua was an Anglo-Saxon, Baptist, Protestant, or a Ancient Near Eastern Jewish Rabbi. Over time I came to believe that Yeshua was an Ancient Near Eastern Jewish Rabbi. As I continued to study the Scripture I came to realize that the Torah (first five books of the Hebrew Scripture)had not been "done away with" by either Yeshua or Paul. In fact as one reads the Apostolic Scripture through the lense of the Hebrew Scripture the centrality of the Torah is inescapable. In 2004 I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree with a focus on the Hebrew Scripture. Today I continue to study the Hebrew Scripture with the purpose of incorporating as much of it into my life as possible. The Torah does not bring one salvation as that is a gift of grace from G-d. The Torah does however bring one sanctification as it records for us the loving instruction of a father to his children. It is my hope that as you navigate this webite you will find the Torah to be a gold mine of truth, wisdom, and goodness from G-d. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Blessings and Shalom upon you!! I am currently shepherding a Messianic Congregation on the Kitsap Peninsula. If you are looking to worship in the tradition of the First Century Synagogue with a focus on the Torah then please visit with us on Shabbat.
